The 4th meeting of the PilotSTRATEGY Regional Stakeholders Committee was held on 3 December 2024. These meetings, organised under the PilotSTRATEGY project, are aimed at updating national and local stakeholders, in Figueira da Foz, Portugal, about the latest developments in the project. Approximately 10 stakeholders were present, from different organisations involved in CO2 emissions, different environmental associations, CO2 emission companies and public administration organisations. The meeting also included presentations by international specialists Philip Ringrose (Norway) and Roberto Ferrario (Italy) about two offshore CO2 storage projects which, as well as providing stakeholders with knowledge of the applicability and success of the CO2 Geological Capture and Storage technique, also allowed for direct dialogue with the researchers, who generously answered all questions.
Also during the meeting, the stakeholders were invited to make suggestions to be included in the new WP6 social acceptance survey which will be conducted with the public. It was suggested that two questions be included: one about alternatives to the CCS project, if they don't consider it ideal, and another with an open response related to specific public concerns (impacts on the landscape, fishing and other coastal activities).
