The Trondheim Conference on CO2 Capture, Transport and Storage is a prestigious bi-annual scientific conference held in Trondheim, Norway since 2003. This conference is a globally important meeting place where R&D institutions, universities and industry unite together to present and discuss the latest developments in carbon capture and storage (CCS).
This year, TCCS12 was held from 19 to 21 of June 2023 and the Portuguese team, represented by Maria Helena Caeiro from the University of Evora, was selected to present two posters about the work that has been done in Portugal on the PilotStrategy project. The conference had record attendance with more than 500 registered participants from all over the world. It was a great opportunity to disseminate recent findings from PilotStrategy results in the Lusitanian Basin.
Both team works’ ‘Geological characterization of CO2 storage complexes integrating autocorrelation seismic data’, co-authored by the Spanish Team from IGME, and ‘Screening offshore geological structures for implementing a CO2 injection pilot in Portugal’ stirred considerable interest among the CCS community. The posters showcased two examples of different workflows applied to characterize offshore and onshore potential sites for CO2 injection in the Lusitanian Basin.
In the current setting of emergency climate actions, the momentum for accelerating CSS as a technology to reduce greenhouse emissions is now.
